- Plan and prepare for remote control operations
- Access, interpret and apply remote control operation documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements and shift change over details before proceeding
- Select and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Select appropriate equipment with remote capabilities
- Perform equipment pre-start checks
- Inspect and assess site conditions to determine if scaling is required and take action
- Identify, address and report potential risks, hazards and environmental issues
- Carry out start-up, park and shutdown procedures
- Confirm location and construction of remoting area
- Erect barricades or signage and/or safety provisions where appropriate to prevent unauthorised access
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Use approved dust suppression and extraction methods
- Ensure area is well ventilated before entry
- Set up line of sight remote operation
- Conduct line of sight remoting
- Wear or position remote controls in a safe location
- Adhere to the appropriate operating distance and safety procedures
- Continuously assess ground conditions and determine safest operating method and efficiency of operations
- Store remote controls in a secured location whilst not in use
- Complete all required documentation clearly, concisely and on time
- Pass on end-of-shift information to oncoming shift
- Carry out operator maintenance
- Conduct housekeeping activities
